Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Montserrat

Hormigueros, Puerto Rico
(Hormigueros is located in the western region of the island south of Mayagüez.)
This church was named after the statue of the Virgin Mary and infant
Christ venerated at the Santa Maria de Montserrat monastery in the
Montserrat mountain in Catalonia.
It may have been built as early as 1590.
In 1998, the Pope John Paul II granted the church the title of Minor Basílica.
