SANTA RITA -- Relics of at least 8 saints of the Augustinian Order will be accessible for public veneration in the upcoming Grand Augustinian Exhibit at the Sta. Rita de Casia Parish here on November 3 to 11.
Confradia Ning Cintas, a church organization of religious devotees here, said that the relics include those of Saint Augustine and Sta. Monica and will be displayed for 9 days of veneration.
The Catholic Church said relics are the "material remains of a saint or a holy person after death, as well as objects sanctified by contact with his body."

Varying classes of the said relics have been loaned by the parish from caretakers all over Pampanga. The group said that the event along with the relic of Sta. Rita de Cascia enshrined in the local parish church is worthy of religious pilgrimage.

The event is one of the highlights of the Grand Augustinian Procession on November 13.

The event, which aims to promote the devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary through her title of Our Lady of Consolation (Nuestra SeƱora de ConsolaciĆ³n y Correa), will also feature prayer vigils and will be highlighted by the grand procession. Participating images will come from this town and neighboring parishes in Guagua, Bacolor, Lubao and Sasmuan among others.

The event is in honor of the Augustinian Order who had helped shaped the history of Pampanga. Pampanga is the first province organized under the Spanish rule and was effectively organized through the Augustinian missionaries who served in its various parishes and built the historic church structures of the province that still stand today.
