A Boston mall chapel will house the relics of three saints

This is exciting news!

A Boston mall chapel will house relics of three saints!

http://www.catholicworldreport.com/2017/10/12/a-boston-mall-chapel-will-house-the-relics-of-three-saints

Relics of St. Faustina Kowalska, St. Maximilian Kolbe, and St. John Paul II will be coming to a Boston mall’s Catholic chapel, and a local priest hopes they will help mall patrons encounter the reality of Christian love.
“Our hope is that these relics will be a source of spiritual wealth for the Church of Boston,” Father James Doran, O.M.V., told CNA. “We hope that all the faithful who live and work in Boston and all those who travel there will know that right in the heart of the city they have access to the two greatest treasures the Church possesses: the Sacraments and relics of the saints.”
Father Doran is director of the St. Francis Chapel at Boston’s Prudential Center mall. The mall, located in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood, hosts more than 75 shops and restaurants.
Cardinal Sean O’Malley will celebrate an Oct. 16 Mass there just after noon as part of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, who run the chapel. Venerable Pio Bruno Lanteri founded the oblates in Turin in 1817.
The Mass will launch public veneration of the relics, which will remain at the mall chapel.

St. Maximilian Kolbe

In commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of St. Maximilian Kolbe his relics will be in Syracuse & available for veneration. Kolbe was a Franciscan Friar who was killed at Auschwitz by the Nazis, he sacrificed his life to take the place of a young father who had been selected for execution. This selfless act of love made him a martyr of charity. Ultimately Kolbe was killed by an injection of poison & for this reason he is also patron saint of people with addictions.

Through our commemoration of this martyrdom we also call to mind the millions of Jews who were killed. We will never forget the Holocaust of our elder brothers & sisters in the faith of Abraham & Sarah.

The Outdoor Pieta Chapel was built in 1968 to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims, especially from the Catholic ethnic communities of Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus, Youngstown, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Windsor, Ontario.  Outdoor Masses are held in the beautiful Outdoor Pieta Chapel on Saurdays & Sundays from May through September.

The Sorrowful Mother Shrine Chapel is the heart of the Shrine today. It features paintings of the Seven Sorrows of Mary and a newly refurbished statue of the Sorrowful Mother holding the Body of her Son. The stained glass windows portray Mary's role in the life of the Church as expressed in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and Sorrowful Mother: Mary, cause of our joy; Mary, help of Christians; Mary, most powerful; Mary, comforter of the afflicted. Other windows depict scenes of Christ's life.
Mass is celebrated in the chapel daily throughout the year.

During the Pilgrim Season, beginning on Divine Mercy Sunday through the last Sunday of October, at 2:30 PM each Sunday we have Rosary, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, Blessing of Religious Articles and Blessing with the Relic of the True Cross and its veneration by those present individually.

At the present time, the Sorrowful Mother Shrine has no overnight accommodations for overnight retreats. We are able to give a Day of Reflection, a Day of Recollection.

Relics of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini in Manhattan, New York

Built into the altar, which sits beneath the mosaic, is the reliquary of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, known as Mother Cabrini, patron saint of immigrants, whose body lies, like Sleeping Beauty, within a glass coffin.

St. Frances Cabrini Shrine is located in Washington Heights in Manhattan, New York.

Mother Cabrini’s body was divided after her death. Her head is in Rome, her heart is in Codogno, Italy, where she established the order, an arm is in Chicago & most of rest of her body is at shrine, this partial relic modeled with wax into image of Mother Cabrini in glass coffin.

Most of Saint Frances Cabrini’s body is now displayed under glass in altar at St. Frances Cabrini Shrine, in Washington Heights area of Manhattan. Mother Cabrini’s bones are encased in a wax replica of her body.  Her body was one of 31 bodies & body parts that Vatican mummification team worked on between 1975 & 2008 in an effort to improve the mummification processes they use to preserve holy relics.

In 1946 she became first U.S. citizen to be canonized by Roman Catholic Church & is patron saint of immigrants.

An Act of
Spiritual Communion

'MY JESUSI believe that you are in the Blessed Sacrament.  I love you above all things, and I long for you in my soul.  Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart as though You have already come.  I embrace You and unite myself entirely to you; never permit me to be separated from You!'
(Enchiridion of Indulgences)
"Make as many Spiritual Communions as possible, to supply for the many Sacramental Communions which are not made.  One every quarter of an hour is not enough.  Make them shorter, but more numerous."
(Our Lord to Sr. Benigna Consolata - d. 1916)
"A spiritual communion acts on the soul as blowing does on a cinder - covered fire which was about to go out.  Whenever you feel your love of God growing cold, quickly make a spiritual communion."
