Man of the Shroud Exhibit
The Shroud of Turin has long been venerated by the faithful & is believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth. The Shroud is one of the most scientifically studied religious icons in history. As science has progressed, so has the speculation on how the image of the crucified man of the Shroud was made.
The exhibit presents the results of a comprehensive scientific, historical & forensic study with numerous photos & illustrations. The exhibit is the work of the Center for the Study of the Passion of Christ & the Holy Shroud & Monsignor Giulio Ricci & other scientists, who spent more than 25 years researching the Holy Shroud.
The centerpiece of the exhibit is a full-length replica of the Shroud developed from a photographic image of the Shroud made by the Eastman Kodak Co. The replica shows the front & back of the shroud. In addition, the mobile exhibit contains a large crucified corpus showing the wounds of Christ corresponding to the passion narrative in the Gospel accounts & the wounds shown on the Shroud. The exhibit contains 92 panels detailing the history & science of the Shroud. The Conventual Franciscan Friars of Marytown—the National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe make this important mobile exhibit & evangelization tool available on loan.

A Virtual Pilgrimage is a 90 minute prayerful experience of drawing nearer to God in the company of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette, made possible by the technology of today to bring Lourdes to the parish “pilgrims” in every way possible with:
Like an actual Pilgrimage to Lourdes, Virtual Pilgrimage is a holy encounter with God under the watchful care of Our Lady of Lourdes. Lourdes Volunteers takes great care to preserve the reverence and sanctity of the Pilgrimage experience as we bring it to those who cannot actually go to Lourdes.
For the first time in the History of the Catholic Church, a Plenary Indulgence was granted for a virtual experience as equal to an actual experience.

Time is needed for planning a sacred and successful Virtual Pilgrimage; approximately 6 weeks to 3 months or one year in advance, depending on a suitable day on your parish spiritual events calendar and the availability of our trained Sanctuaries Guides.
The following Questions & Answers may help you with your questions.
For correctional institutions, we are usually hosted by your local prison ministry or Deacon. Advance time is required for our Virtual Pilgrimage Guide identification pre-approval for prison/jail/penitentiary or juvenile detention center visitor entry system.
Often, we share in the local Catholic schools in the day time and present to the parish in the evening.

More about Virtual Pilgrimages and the Virtual Pilgrimage of Lourdes:
What is a Virtual Pilgrimage?
http://lourdesvolunteers.org/what-is-a-virtual-pilgrimage
A Virtual Pilgrimage brings the actual experience of Lourdes virtually to you!A Virtual Pilgrimage is a 90 minute prayerful experience of drawing nearer to God in the company of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette, made possible by the technology of today to bring Lourdes to the parish “pilgrims” in every way possible with:
- projected images of what pilgrims would see in Lourdes
- music similar to what pilgrims hear in Lourdes,
- a piece of the Grotto rock from Lourdes
- precious water from the Grotto spring
- Eucharistic blessing as in Lourdes
- Candlelight Rosary Procession
Like an actual Pilgrimage to Lourdes, Virtual Pilgrimage is a holy encounter with God under the watchful care of Our Lady of Lourdes. Lourdes Volunteers takes great care to preserve the reverence and sanctity of the Pilgrimage experience as we bring it to those who cannot actually go to Lourdes.
For the first time in the History of the Catholic Church, a Plenary Indulgence was granted for a virtual experience as equal to an actual experience.
Invite us to your parish or school, university or prison ministry or to your group, retreat or conference:
To Arrange a Virtual Pilgrimage:
http://lourdesvolunteers.org/to-arrange-a-virtual-pilgrimage
- Pray! A spontaneous prayer or just one Hail Mary can make all the difference!
- Call us! We will speak with you by phone and will mail or email you a packet of information.
- Ask your priest or pastor about bringing Lourdes to your parish with our printed materials.
- E-mail: Fran@LourdesVolunteers.org
- Phone: (315) 476-0026 Lourdes Volunteers Office
Time is needed for planning a sacred and successful Virtual Pilgrimage; approximately 6 weeks to 3 months or one year in advance, depending on a suitable day on your parish spiritual events calendar and the availability of our trained Sanctuaries Guides.
The following Questions & Answers may help you with your questions.
What is the process for having a Virtual Pilgrimage at my parish?
- Contact the Virtual Pilgrimage Director at fran@lourdesvolunteers.org or (315) 476-0026
- Tell us where you are located, your name, address, phone and e-mail– and the best way to contact you.
- You will receive information on Virtual Pilgrimage and about North American Lourdes Volunteers. This information should be reviewed and shared with your Pastor.
Who is usually involved in the planning process?
- Getting your Pastor’s permission is the vital first step to host a Lourdes Virtual Pilgrimage in your parish.
- One contact person must be willing to be the host to plan and facilitate with the Virtual Pilgrimage Director.
- The contact person may want to form a committee to share the necessary volunteer tasks, including promoting and advertising the Lourdes Virtual Pilgrimage Experience and to recruit volunteers to help.
How much does a Virtual Pilgrimage cost?
Lourdes Volunteers never charges a fee for sharing the Lourdes Message; we do ask attending “Pilgrims” to make a generous free-will offering which pay for our travel, printed materials and the shipment of Lourdes Water from the Grotto Spring to our home office in Syracuse, NY, and to your location. How much time in advance is needed in order to prepare my parish for a Virtual Pilgrimage?
So much depends on where your parish is located and where we are in our planning schedule. Usually, at least 6 weeks to 3 months or one year in advance for a well-planned Virtual Pilgrimage Experience. However, sometimes, we can respond to a spontaneous request in a location where we are present. For correctional institutions, we are usually hosted by your local prison ministry or Deacon. Advance time is required for our Virtual Pilgrimage Guide identification pre-approval for prison/jail/penitentiary or juvenile detention center visitor entry system.
When do you offer Virtual Pilgrimages during the year?
Virtual Pilgrimages usually take place from January through May or September through early December, dependent upon the Liturgical Calendar. Occasionally, we can offer Virtual Pilgrimages around August 15.Is the Bishop of my Diocese informed about Lourdes Volunteers coming to my parish?
Lourdes Volunteers offers Virtual Pilgrimage in diocese with the permission of that Bishop. A letter of request and endorsement from the Bishop of the Syracuse Diocese is sent to each Archdiocese/Diocese where Virtual Pilgrimages are to take place.Do you share Virtual Pilgrimage in schools? Is it geared to specific grade levels?
We often share the Message of Lourdes with grade schools, high schools and universities. The experience is geared to each specific grade and age level.Often, we share in the local Catholic schools in the day time and present to the parish in the evening.
Where else are Virtual Pilgrimages given?
Besides parishes and schools, we share the Message of Lourdes in prisons, hospices, nursing homes and at universities, conferences, to various organizations and potential volunteer groups.

Traveling Relic of Saint Damien - Hawaii
Traveling relic of St. Damien available for veneration
Diocese of Honolulu
1184 Bishop St, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813
Phone: (808) 585-3300The Diocese of Honolulu has a “traveling relic” of St. Damien, available for veneration wherever it is welcome.
"We are putting the word out to bishops,” Bishop Larry
Silva said. The relic is made up of bone fragments shed from another
relic, a talus (ankle) bone now on permanent display in the Cathedral
of Our Lady of Peace.
Typically, the relic of a saint would be put on display in a church or
chapel for the faithful to approach it, view it, perhaps touch the box
it is in, and pray in its presence. The bishop has assigned Sacred
Hearts Father Paul Zaccone as the person who “will normally be the one
to take the relic to its various locations.” “He will be prepared to
give talks and to lead prayers, if desired,” the bishop explained in an
e-mail message. Father Zaccone will also arrange for any accompanying
literature, art and religious objects that would supplement the display
of the relic, the bishop said.
The relic is owned by the Diocese of Honolulu. Bishop Silva said that he would consider future requests directly from individual parishes, convents, monasteries or other church entities. The diocesan Office of Worship would handle requests. The bone fragments are held in a 6-inch by 9-inch by 4-inch reliquary of polished monkeypod wood, and are visible behind a thick oval glass window on the lid. The box is secured by a brass Louis Vuitton padlock made in Paris. It is carried in a donated 16-inch long black leather bag by Prada. The reliquary was made by 2 Makawao, Maui, craftsmen, Edwin Ferreira and Allan Marciel. The wood comes from a 100-year-old tree Father Damien planted on topside Molokai near the church he built in Kaluaaha, Our Lady of Seven Sorrows.
Transportation costs of the traveling relic will be the responsibility of the diocese or other entity that requests it. This includes coach class airfare, ground transportation, and room and board for the person accompanying the relic. The relic will always be hand-carried, the bishop said, never mailed or checked in as luggage.
Another St. Damien relic, the remains of his
right hand, lies in the priest’s original grave alongside St. Philomena
Church in Kalawao, Molokai, where he was buried in 1889.

Exhibitions
Over the past 7 years, thousands of people from all walks of life have come to visit our Holy Face Exhibition. Located in various cities (at different times) across all of North America, the exhibition gives both believers and non-believers an opportunity to see first-hand for themselves, the authenticity and sheer grandeur of the Holy Shroud. It also provides visitors with a deeper understanding and awareness of all the terrible pain and suffering that our Lord endured for all of us.
Programs they offer:
The Holy Face Association offers several programs to help in the conversion of souls for their salvation. Read about the various programs below and feel free to contact us for more information, should you have any questions. These programs are currently available in the Western hemisphere only (North and South America).
Holy Face Church Program - (Lord, that we may see Thy Face)
If the Pastor wishes to enshrine the illuminated (or non-illuminated) framed Holy Face picture permanently in the church, the Association will donate this picture, plus Holy Face devotional material, as well as a percentage of large Holy Face pictures and novenas for the parishoners. Also, the Association will help to start up (preferably on Tuesdays) a Holy Face Hour of reparation. (available in Western Hemisphere only).
Holy Face Home Program - (Our Lord Comes To Visit His Children)
A group should be formed (minimum 2 people, 3 preferred) and they should choose a name by which the group will be known (preferably that of a saint or an angel). This designated group will then be responsible for taking the illuminated, framed Holy Face picture to different private homes, including retirement homes, and leave the picture at every location for 9 consecutive days. The group will recite the first day Novena Prayer with the residents of the home and return on the ninth day to again recite the ninth day Novena Prayer, as well as the Act of Consecration. It is suggested that the Rosary also be said each day in thanksgiving and reparation. After the consecration has been made (and before the membership form is filled out), a Holy Face picture (framed by the group) should be enshrined in the consecrated home. The illuminated, framed Holy Face picture is then brought to another home. (available in Western Hemisphere only).
Holy Face Hospital Program - (Our Lord Consoles His Children)
You cannot look at the Most Holy Face of Jesus and fail to see His terrible suffering. The dear souls in the hospitals have the opportunity of suffering with Jesus; united with Jesus, they can offer all to our Heavenly Father to make reparation and help save many souls. Prayer leaflets and medals are given to hospital patients (all have been blessed); being sick, most will find it difficult to say prayers, but we ask that they gaze upon the Holy Face of Jesus illustrated on the promise card. In doing so, they actually console Jesus, and one will always receive more than he or she can give, for God will always reward a cheerful giver.
Holy Face Missionary Program - (Go out to the whole world)
The Association, depending on who requests it, will donate Holy Face devotional materials and medals, plus Holy Face pictures in order to help all souls find, love and console Jesus. The churches are supplied with a large 16 x 20 inch Holy Face picture (not framed) and other material for those who wish to start a Holy Face Holy Hour of reparation.
Holy Face Prison Program - (I was in prison and you visited me)
When a prisoner writes the Association, they will receive an envelope containing Holy Face devotional literature and a Holy Face Medal (blessed). By separate post, the inmate will receive a Sacred and Immaculate Heart picture, plus a booklet containing all necessary prayers. Those who participate in this program are supplied (if they so wish) with rosaries, scapulars and different spiritual books to help them on the road of salvation.
Holy Face School Program - (That they may learn)
When a Principal of a school and/or a teacher writes to the Association, it will do its utmost to cooperate in helping the children to know and love the Most Holy Face of Jesus, through the donation of Holy Face devotional material and medals to interested classmates. Also, if they wish, a large, unframed Holy Face picture will be sent, upon request, to be enshrined in the school.

Requirements for Hosting.
Please note that all expositions to be held in a parish church require the pastor\'s authorization. Please obtain this before making your request. (For a school, authorization is required from the principal. For a prison, authorization is required from the warden.)
The following provides the details relevant to hosting an exposition:
Fr. Carlos begins each exposition with a presentation and teaching on relics which provides the catechetical and spiritual basis for the Walk with the Saints that follows the presentation. The point of the teaching is nothing other than to present the basic Gospel message of Jesus Christ: that God is here right now and wants to be encountered; He touches us through the lives and the sacred remains of His Saints. God never disappoints ... he always \"shows up\". There are healings at every exposition. Hundreds, perhaps even thousands, have been reported back to this ministry. Spectacular ones. There have been instances of cancer, heart disease, tumors, osteoporosis, physical deformities, etc., disappear immediately and completely. Though a great number of miracles have been physical (the Healings tab above lists a sample of these), the most spectacular are the healing of faith where a new and deeper relationship with God and His Saints are formed in the faithful. It is a most wonderful thing to see a parish or school renewed after an exposition. That is the purpose and reason for this ministry.

The following provides the details relevant to hosting an exposition:
General Overview
Approximately 150 relics will be exposed for veneration, including those of St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux (the \"Little Flower\"), St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska. The supreme highlight is one of the largest certified relics of the True Cross in the world and a piece of the veil of Our Lady. A complete list of these is available on the right hand side of this website (click on the image of a saint that says \"The Saints: See a list of Relics in the Exposition\").Fr. It is a most wonderful thing to see a parish or school renewed after an exposition. That is the purpose and reason for this ministry.
Cost:
There is no cost for hosting an exposition. This is to allow all parishes--even poor ones--the opportunity to host an exposition. There is also no collection taken at an exposition. The only financial commitments for which a parish would be obligated are: 1) to make free will baskets available at the exposition for those who desire to make a donation; and, 2) to not have any simultaneous collections or fundraising occurring during an exposition.Venue:
Parishes are required to make the parish hall or school gym (i.e., the parish’s largest room) available as the location for the display of relics. This is the largest traveling display of relics in the world and requires significant space. In addition, the church must be available as the location for the talk and teaching. The purpose of spatially separating these two components is to allow as much free space in the hall for the veneration as possible (i.e., without space taken up by large numbers of chairs). However, if the church is not available and if the parish hall/gym is extraordinarily large there can be some flexibility on this.Contact Person:
An email address and cell phone number would have to be provided for the local parish contact.Advertising Resources:
Treasures of the Church provides everything that the parish would need to advertise (posters, flyers, bulletin information).Parishes must commit to publicizing the exposition in their bulletins and web pages. In addition, they must commit to informing neighboring parishes of the exposition and requesting advertising in their bulletins.Material and Equipment Requirements:
The following is a list of things the parish would need to provide on the date of the exposition:- An extension cord and power strip (set-up in the church).
- A small table on which to put a digital projector and computer (set-up in the church).
- portable microphone; a clip-on microphone or a wireless microphone, if available, is best (for use in the church).
- 20 CLEAN tables; either 6 or 8 feet in length are fine; round tables will not work unfortunately; tablecloths are provided Treasures of the Church (set-up in the hall).
- A bottle of glass cleaner (e.g., Windex) and some paper towels (for use in the hall).
- Two volunteers to help set up at the start of the day and take down at the end of the day (please, no more than two).
Media:
Many pastors desire to inform the local media (local TV and newspapers, diocesan news, Catholic radio, etc.) of their exposition and to request coverage of the event. This is fine and encouraged. However, it is requested that a time for any desired media interviews with Fr. Carlos be arranged prior to the date of the exposition so as to not interfere with set-up of the relics display, which normally occurs two hours before the scheduled start time. In addition, media should be informed that there is no photography or video recording permitted during the set-up of the relics display, but only during the presentation and the time of veneration afterwards.Lodging:
Fr. Carlos would require accommodation in the parish rectory for the night of the exposition. If a room is not available the parish would have to provide a hotel room. Here is the link to request an exposition:
